GIS
by Design!
A GIS should be designed to assist the development of technology
and an enterprise-wide database, eliminating redundant data collection
and storage through the implementation of proper database management
principles. An enterprise-wide database will allow access to information
for prompt queries, timely analysis, and use in other applications.
LEGIS – Lebanon’s Enterprise
Geographic Information System is a computer-based information system
that will enable the capture, storage, manipulation, analyses and
display of spatially (maps) referenced and associated tabular attribute
data (tables). LEGIS will enable users the ability to perform simple
spatial queries along with the ability to solve complex research,
planning, and management problems.
Cooperation between municipal departments, county
departments, other municipalities, townships, and residents must
occur for a complete, accurate, and up-to-date enterprise-wide database.
Remember the purpose for cooperation is to reduce redundancy! When
information becomes public, it will require the cooperation of the
public to keep GIS informed of errors or changes. Everyone needs
to be involved!
Technology is not here to replace employees or use
up taxpayer’s monies. Technology is here as a tool for everyone
to use to reduce the redundant workload and put the taxpayer’s
monies to work where it can really count!
Go
out and look around you!
Imagine
beyond what you see!
Share
the idea!
That’s GIS!
